Police investigate Lower Moreland Township deaths

A suburban house in Montgomery County has become a horrific crime scene as two people were found dead in a Lower Moreland Township home with wounds from a chainsaw.

At 12:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Lower Moreland Township Police were dispatched to a report of lacerations at a home in the 1100 block of Country Lane. A juvenile caller reported finding his parents unresponsive with lacerations from a chainsaw.

The Lower Moreland Township Police Department and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau commenced a joint investigation. At this time, law enforcement is not releasing the names of the deceased pending family notification of their deaths.

"It's awful, just awful, shock, disbelief, just almost surreal," neighbor Glen Nathan said. "Great people, we love them, we're going to miss them. They were fantastic neighbors, really liked them a lot,"

Investigators said the woman's death seems to be an apparent homicide. The man runs an excavating business. Those who knew the couple said there may have been domestic issues between the two.

"I know they've had some troubles, I've heard that from mutual friends and people that were closer to them recently than I have been, but they have been together I guess for 15-20 years," friend Eric Shallcross said.

Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday at the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
