Masters champion has Lehigh Valley ties
Jordan Spieth, 21, is one of the youngest players to win the Masters and has ties to the Lehigh Valley.
Spieth's dad, Shawn, was a baseball player at Lehigh University and his mom, Chris, played basketball at Moravian College.
They both graduated from Saucon Valley High School and his grandfather lives in Bethlehem.
Jordan Spieth dominated the Masters golf tournament this weekend.
He won the Augusta National Golf Club’s green jacket and millions of dollars.
His grandfather, Donald Spieth, said it couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
He said, "So sweet at the same time he's such a wonderful young man. I'm just proud of the way he treats other people. I just hope he doesn't change and I don't think he will because I think he is well grounded."
Spieth said family is what's most important to Jordan and keeps him humble.
He has a brother and sister.
Jordan and his sister have a special bond.
Spieth said, "She's autistic and he is so wonderful with her and he looks forward to coming home because he says because she doesn't know or care that he won or lost or what happens. She is just so happy to see him.."
But a drive to win is what Jordan has always had inside of him.
"He said that in an interview on television when he was 12. They asked him what did he want to do and said I hear you want to play in the masters he said no I'd like to win the masters," said Spieth.
His grandfather said he put in long hours as a kid to be the best, even in the snow.
His new fame and fortune hasn't stopped Jordan from picking up the phone to chat with his grandfather.
"He'll call and we'll spend a half an hour or 45 minutes talking about his new house, his girlfriend talking about all other kinds of things other than golf, he's still my little grandson."
