Wilson boys, BC girls lacrosse notch big league wins

The Wilson boys and Berks Catholic girls lacrosse teams recording key league wins on Thursday evening.


At Shillington, Wilson (6-0, 10-2) scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to pull away from Governor Mifflin (3-3, 7-4) in a 12-8 decision. The Bulldogs led 9-8 after the third and had to rally from 6-5 down at halftime.


Jake Klein added four goals while Connor Howell racked up four points in addition for the Bulldogs.


Darren Schlegel had a huge game for the Mustangs, tallying four goals and a pair of assits. Aaron Grill also netted four goals for Mifflin.


Wilson is comfortably atop Berks I and has a big game with Berks Catholic on Tuesday.

At Shemanski Stadium, the Berks Catholic girls (4-2, 6-2) handled rival Wyomissing (3-3, 4-4) in a Berks II showdown, 16-5.


Katherine Finneran led the Saints with four goals and a pair of helpers. Meredith Finneran recorded four points while Sarah Hayes and Helena Woytovich each had had tricks for BC.


Leah McAvoy had two goals for the Spartans.


BC took over sole possession of first place Berks II with the victory.
