HTC’s next One handset will be unveiled October 20

HTC is launching its next One smartphone on October 20, but it won’t be a normal event. Rather than hold a press event (with plenty of overhead cost), HTC is holding a virtual event. It’s open to everyone, too. Without a venue to point us to, HTC is asking that we go to its launch website on noon ET on October 20. It’s not your typical ‘event,’ but may be the new normal; recently, OnePlus did something very similar in announcing the OnePlus Two handset.
